GLOCAL Staff Mobility: Göttingen comes to Glasgow

Staff mobility is a crucial part of the GLOCAL experience, for students as much as for faculty. As I am on my second year teaching the Global Varieties of Capitalism Course in Glasgow as a member of the Göttingen faculty, I can see numerous benefits to this feature of the program. It makes the collaborative nature of GLOCAL visible to students from the start. It has provided me with close-up insights into the workings of a Scottish university. Most importantly, through participation in department seminars and events, these exchanges provide opportunities for the sharing of research and teaching experiences. Overall, staff mobility across universities thus greatly adds to the jointness and cohesion of the program. Besides, it has not only given me the opportunity to enjoy the friendly hospitality of my Glasgow colleagues, but also to explore Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands on weekend outings.
