Meet The Team: Maarten Van Dijck
In this series, we introduce you to the many academics and administrative staff that work tirelessly to help make GLOCAL the programme that it is. Today, we’re meeting Maarten Van Dijck, associate professor in history and theory of social sciences at Erasmus University Rotterdam
teaching concerns the theories and methodologies used in historical and social research.
Maarten specialises in urban history from a long-term perspective. He is currently the Education Programme Director at the History Department of the Erasmus University Rotterdam and coordinates the GLOCAL Master’s Programme in Rotterdam together with Ben Wubs.
He teaches Port Cities in Historical Perspective at the University of Barcelona and he is also involved in GLOCAL courses on Urban History at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
What do you enjoy most about GLOCAL?
“I especially love the interdisciplinary collaboration within GLOCAL. The programme brings together the humanities and social sciences in the field of global business history, creating a unique mix that you won’t find anywhere else.”
What makes a good GLOCAL student?
