Statement for new students

We're very much looking forward to welcoming you to the University of Glasgow. We know you may have questions about what teaching will look like. While we cannot currently confirm what our final teaching plan will exactly look like, we can confirm that we are adopting a blended approach to our teaching delivery. All large lectures and some tutorials or seminars will be delivered online but it is our intention to support an increasing amount of on-campus small group teaching across the semester. A significant amount of work is being undertaken to ensure that this planned on-campus small group teaching can take place from the beginning of the academic year, subject to Covid-19 restrictions easing. As a school we are not planning to run any of our programmes as online only. We will also be providing on-campus experience events for all students in our school across the year. In the meantime, please know that the University will continue to work closely with the Government regarding teaching and will inform students about the final arrangements for the new academic year as soon as it can. The health and safety of our students is our number one priority. Please check our Covid FAQs for the latest updates.

Deposit

Got an offer? Wondering about deposits?

Please note, if you have received an offer of entry to GLOCAL (Conditional or Unconditional), you do NOT need to pay a deposit at this stage.

If you are awarded an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, there is no deposit to pay. The awarding of the Scholarship is your guarantee of a place on the programme.

The outcome of scholarship applications will be communicated to all applicants via email in April 2023

Unsuccessful scholarship applicants who wish to be considered as self funders are required to pay a deposit to secure a place on the programme by 5th May 2023.

Any applicant applying for a self-funded place from 5th April onwards will be given a four-week rolling deadline for payment of their deposit.

See here for deposit terms and conditions.

Language requirements for Autumn 2021 entry

Language requirements for Autumn 2021 entry are still being reviewed and confirmed, in consideration of the current global circumstances. However, we recommend that you upload whatever language test you have just now and submit your application as soon as you can.

You don’t need to have your final degree certificate or English test results at the time of submitting your application – these can be uploaded later.
An applicant who is completing the final year of his/her first degree or who has yet to provide the required evidence of proficiency in English will be considered for entry to the GLOCAL programme but will not receive an unconditional offer of a place on the programme until we have received his/her final degree and/or English language test results. In such cases you may be made a conditional offer on finishing your degree at the required grade and/or obtaining the required English language test results. This documentation must be submitted to the GLOCAL Consortium via the University of Glasgow before you can enrol on the GLOCAL programme.

Please note: whilst Duolingo tests may still be permitted for 2021 entry for some courses at the University of Glasgow, the requirements will likely be increased and may not apply for all courses.

Please keep an eye on the COVID-19 FAQ page to get updates on language requirements for Autumn 2021 entry when they are confirmed.

BREXIT STATEMENT

In response to queries about the future of the GLOCAL programme and the University of Glasgow’s participation in the programme in light of Brexit:

21 February 2020

"We would like to assure students and applicants that their current or future participation in GLOCAL will not be impacted by Brexit. The programme will continue to run until the end of its current funding period in 2025 and we anticipate that it will continue beyond then.

The Withdrawal Agreement foresees that the UK will continue to participate in the current 2014-2020 EU programmes, including Erasmus+, as if the UK was an EU Member State until the closure of the programmes. This means that UK beneficiaries can continue to take part in grants awarded under the current MFF until their end date, even if it is after 2020.

https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/about/brexit_en

This means that the GLOCAL programme will continue to run in its current form until at least the 2023-2025 intake.

As a UK-based institution, the University of Glasgow will fully participate in Erasmus+ until further notice.

We will keep all students and applicants up to date with information as it becomes available."
