Times Higher Education recently released their subject rankings for 2026, and we're very proud to see four of our partner institutions grouped so closely together within the top 100 - with GLOCAL you'll be studying at some of the best universities in the world in the field of social sciences
We’re proud to have two of our partners rank within the Top 40 on the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability:

The 2026 Social Sciences ranking encompasses a diverse range of subjects including: communication and media studies, politics and international studies (including development studies), sociology, geography and anthropology.
Continued high rankings for our partner universities show the strength of partners we have on the GLOCAL programme, and we’re proud to work with such talented and dedicated individuals across our partners.

Times Higher Education World Rankings 2026: 6 Partners in Top 150
Times Higher Education have just released their 2026 World University Rankings, and we're delighted to have 6 of our partner universities ranked in the top 150 institutions in the world. This comes after three of our partners were ranked in the top 100 of QS' global rankings a few months ago.

University of Glasgow Ranks 12th in World in THE Impact Rankings
Times Higher Education Impact Rankings
We're very proud to share that the University of Glasgow has ranked 12th in the world in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings!
The University has also ranked 1st in Scotland, 2nd in the UK, and 3rd in Europe - 2,526 universities from 130 countries or territories have been based on their progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key highlights for University of Glasgow include:
💧 3rd Globally in Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG 6)
♻ 10th Globally in Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)
🌍 10th Globally in Life on Land (SDG 15)
We'd also like to congratulate the University of Barcelona for ranking within the Top 150 Globally, and ranking 27th in Quality Education and =57th in Climate Action
QS University Rankings 2026
This week the QS University Rankings also came out, with three GLOCAL partners ranking in the Top 100 Globally:

- 212th - Universidad de Los Andes

Meet The Team: Fraser Blain
In this series, we introduce you to the many academics and administrative staff that work tirelessly to help make GLOCAL the programme that it is. Today, we’re meeting Fraser Blain, Erasmus Mundus Projects Coordinator at the University of Glasgow
Fraser has worked with GLOCAL since 2022 as part of the Erasmus Mundus team at the University of Glasgow. He provides support to students and colleagues in areas including visa guidance, staff travel, sharing information about additional opportunities with students, and many more administrative tasks.
What do you enjoy most about GLOCAL?
“My favourite thing about GLOCAL is when all our students arrive at the start of their time on the programme in Glasgow – getting to meet students from all over the world and hear about their past experiences is fascinating.”
What makes a good GLOCAL student?
“A good GLOCAL student is confident, inquisitive, and respectful, someone who leads and shapes debates in a constructive and fully-rounded way. We want our students to have a real sense of who they are, what they believe in, and what they want to get from their studies.”
Why is GLOCAL worth studying in 2025?
“It’s more important than ever that we understand the impact of global and societal changes on our lives and communities, and GLOCAL provides an excellent opportunity to explore these at multiple mobility locations.”
